W7 S2S Party
Next weekend (Aug 3-4) is going to be busy with SOTA activity - Goat chasing and 14ers along with regular operations. We would like to take advantage of the activity levels by focussing some attention on W7-land activations. We’re calling this event the “W7 S2S Party.” We hope to see many W7 activations and want to facilitate S2S contacts.
To that end, it is proposed that we earmark some ongoing times and frequencies for S2S emphasis. This might go something like this:
On the hours (1500z, 1600z, 1700z, etc.) activators can look for S2S opportunities on 40M (7.033 MHz and 7.195 MHz).
On the half hours (1530z, 1630z,1730z, etc.) activators can look for S2S opportunities on 20M (14.063 MHz and 14.346 MHz).
This will be particularly helpful for those without data coverage on their summits. The rest of the time, activators can follow their normal operations. Chasers could refrain from trying to work the summits during the S2S set aside times. Chasers might also be able to help find clear frequencies at times. The goal is much activity and more S2S QSOs.
What do you think of the idea? Is every hour too much or just about right? Keep in mind that many activators will not be on summits a long time as they try to activate multiple summits. Are the frequencies good choices?
