We (me and N7HAP) did this after W7O/SC-267, I would recommend doing them both if up there. We went up expecting a nice 75degree day but got that Oregon liquid sunshine instead. This was N7HAP's first successful activation! He also logged the very first SOTA contact for this summit, YAY!

Go up via Sardine Cr.then to Right Fork Sardine Cr then Hornet Hill Ridge Road (35-3-28.2), you will come to an intersection with the summit access road BLM 35-3-27.2. This road has a road barrier so you will need to park at the intersection of Hornet Hill Rd(35-3-28.2) and 35-3-27.2 (unless on an OHV of some sort). Quite a bit of space to park out of the way. The walk to the summit is almost exactly 1 mile, so 2 mi RT, most of which is on a good road, the last climb you will need to bushwack and step over downed logs (about 1/4mi depending where you choose to start). It was a nice little afternoon walk. BEWARE: lots of poison oak in some areas at the roadside bank. Once you get above the road a bit it is not so bad. The road wraps around the hill a bit on each side so we found an area free of PO to choose where to start. Also ticks!!
