A nice hike through second growth forest will get you to the former fire lookout site on top of Stormy Mountain. You might consider activating Slide Peak, W7W/CH-202 as you'll be passing right by the trailhead for that summit.

A good place to start is Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park 20530 S Lakeshore Rd, Chelan, WA - it's not a bad place to stay either. From the park you go 0.4 miles west and then turn south onto paved Shady Pass Road and go 2.5 miles to veer left at a Y and head downhill. From here you'll be staying on the main track of Slide Ridge Road for 12.9 miles to the parking area for Slide Peak (47.9119° -120.2778°). On the way there, don't let your GPS show you any shortcuts - the main track is mostly graveled and well graded. Still, the few rough sections are best navigated in a vehicle with high clearance.

Take a look at the Slide Peak route and be glad you are headed to a real trail 4.3 miles farther down the road. You'll pass through a gate and find a parking area on the left and a sign for the Devils Backbone Trail #1448 on the right (47.8856° -120.3342°). This well-graded trail of about 1.4 miles will bring you to the old lookout site and some great views. There are a few stunted trees that are adequate for antennas, and lots of room on this rocky summit.
